Our last day in Scotland has arrived. Many wonderful memories has been made in this amazing country and even a change in life status (engaged!!! read day 5 post) happened there. Despite being a little sad to bid Scotland goodbye, we were very much looking forward to our drive towards England for more wonderful adventures!

09:00 | Breakfast at Larder Go
As usual, the best way to start the day is with good breakfast. Ate bagels at Larder Go which is simple and delicious! Initial plan was for us to eat at the main Larder cafe with a more extensive menu, but unknowingly, we went in through the wrong door and ended up at the takeaway joint Larder Go instead. However, I’m glad that we ate at Larder Go as it felt like we blended in with the locals where we just chilled and people-watch. Good mood food indeed!

10:00 | Shop at Curiouser and Curiouser
During our stay at Huntingtower Lodge (read day 4 post), we learnt that their daughter is the owner of Curiouser and Curiouser stores in Edinburgh and are selling some prints and gifts that we saw around the house. Since we were in Edinburgh, we had to give it a visit before we leave to see if there are any nice gifts for us to bring home. And lucky us, we met their daughter at the store we visited and bought quite a few stuff that we are now using in our new home.

11:00 | Visit the National Museum of Scotland
A visit to the National Museum of Scotland is a must! The exhibitions are of impressive scale, especially the natural world gallery. Even if you don’t fancy visiting the exhibitions, you should still go for the building itself, as the interior is a work of art. Entry is free so why not?

13:30 | Lunch at The Barn at Beal
Leaving the city behind, we happily moved towards our main destination for the day. Before that, we had lunch at the restaurant where we found ourselves looking at sheep grazing on the fields of Northumberland. It was very cold that day, so we were glad to have had a warm and hearty meal there. This is a really nice stopover point before heading to Lindisfarne.

14:30 | Afternoon at Holy Island of Lindisfarne
Lindisfarne is definitely an unconventional destination for most tourists, especially if they are road tripping around England for the first time. But for us, our intention is always to find a less travelled path to explore.

In order to get to the island, the only way is to drive through the sandy causeway from Northumberland mainland. Do take note that twice a day, this causeway will be cut off by the tide. You can plan your travel time using the tide tables.

Upon walking into the village on Lindisfarne island, it felt surreal. It was as if time had stood still. Spotted a post office sign along the pretty streets of cottages, so we decide to share a piece of the island by mailing out post cards to our loved ones from there.

Next on the itinerary is a visit to the Lindisfarne Priory. The remains of the main arches and structures on the site gave us a glimpse into how impressive it might have been during its heydays. Entry fee costs just £6 for adults, worth it!.

19:00 | Ending the day at Shilbottle Airbnb
Booked an Airbnb room at Shilbottle before continuing our journey to Alnwick. We could not find the exact location of the house initially. Thankfully, a group of kids who were playing at the end of the street were so helpful by asking around and looking for the house number on our behalf. Our room was above a yoga studio and overlooking a vast land of yellow flowers.
