We all need a break sometimes, and after months of endless work and long office hours, we finally decided that it’s time for a weekend getaway! We’ve been wanting to visit Batam together as it has been a long time since we visited the island. After some research, we decided to stay at Sijori Resort & Spa. Do note that when we stayed there, the resort was only halfway through its renovations and hasn’t officially launched!
Harbourfront Centre is a familiar departure point for frequent Batam visitors, but Sekupang Ferry Terminal is probably the less traveled destination. The obvious perk of traveling to Sekupang is a much emptier ferry!
Sijori Resort provides a free shuttle service from the ferry terminal to the resort!
Upon arriving at the resort, you’ll be greeted by the spacious and welcoming lobby. After checking in, we took the buggy ride up to the bungalow area, where we will be staying!
Our plan was to stay at the resort most of the time, so we got the Premier Room to spoil ourselves a bit! The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and there’s a beautiful tub in the bathroom! Exactly what we needed for a good rest.
From top to bottom: Ayam Penyet, Avocado Juice (Alpukat), Gado Gado, Beef Rendang
Headed to the Courtyard Restaurant for lunch after a short rest. Food was great and very reasonably priced for a resort. You expect the prices to be slightly cheaper than Singapore. As of our stay, only this restaurant has opened. From what we gathered, there will be 4 restaurants/bars within the resort once completed!
We were serious about staying in the room and resting, especially for the first day. That meant that we had to get room service for our dinner! We read consistent reviews on Tripadvisor about the Sijori Fried Rice being a must-try. We ordered that and true to the reviews, it was really good! If you have to get room service, do order this dish.
Swimming Pool & Main Building
We were greeted with a nice sunshine next morning. There weren’t too many people at the resort yet as we checked in on a Friday afternoon.
Breakfast buffet spread
The breakfast buffet spread at the resort is a pretty standard one that you’d expect at most resorts. The egg station was definitely a plus though!
We headed to the popular Nagoya area after breakfast. Sijori provides free 2-way shuttle to the city centre. Just make sure to reserve your slots with the reception! There aren’t too many timings though, so make sure to find out the timing beforehand to prevent any disruption to your plans! Journey from Sijori to Nagoya takes about 20-25mins.
Before I forget, Sijori also has very pretty landscaping done, and thus have many potential photo spots like the photo above! Being filled with trees and flowers, it really is a great place to relax. There are many activities available as well (though we pretty much slept for 3 days), such as mini-golf, archery and of course, massage & spa. For more on these info, visit their website here!
All in all, we were really satisfied with the stay! We think that the resort has a real good potential when it fully launches, and hopefully we’ll have the chance to come back when it’s completed! So, if you’re heading to Batam soon, why not consider a stay here? Let us know if you have any questions and we will try our best to answer them. Have fun!
Extra Info:
We ate at A2 food court for dinner on the second night. Good and affordable seafood. Really good ambience with free live football on the night we went!
Anchor Cafe & Roastery
We went to Anchor Cafe & Roastery on the last day. Honestly, we think that it’s okay to give this a miss. Food is pretty good, but it’s Singapore prices, making it feel expensive being in Batam. It is also quite out of the way. This is just our personal opinion of course!
