Our very typical touristy day in London that ended off on an untypical note.

24th May 2017

10:30 | Started the day at Borough Market
Took half an hour to travel from our Airbnb to the Borough Market for breakfast. Being London’s oldest fresh food market, it is filled with wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, cooked food and much more. We were spoilt for choice with delicious smells tempting us at every corner and the friendly traders giving out samples to try.

The market hall where we sat and eat our breakfast is a large glass structure that let natural light in and the green plants crawling vertically along the structure. It was a joy eating good food there while observing the bustling atmosphere of the market. A definite must visit in our opinion!

12:00 | South Bank walk from London bridge to Tower bridge
It was around lunchtime when we started walking, so we observed the unique sights of many people seated along the streets overlooking River Thames to have their lunch. Probably because of the good sunny weather that is rare in London?

Really enjoyed our stroll along South Bank where we got to see some of London’s iconic structures such as The Shard (highest building in London) & the Tower of London. We took multiple stops along the way to take photos and people-watch. This is a really easy and pleasant walk to take in the attractiveness of London.

15:00 | Late lunch and shopping at Old Spitalfields Market
Made our way down to Old Spitalfields Market. A very interesting space with vintage goods, clothings, homeware, arts and of course not missing the food stalls and food trucks. For lunch, we got pizza and mac&cheese from the food truck which tasted awesome!

16:00 | Explored London hip district – Shoreditch
Saw lots of pretty cool street arts on the walls of buildings. We were lucky to even witness the an artist in action! Checked out some unique stores in the area such as Labour and Wait, SCP and other shops that I forgot the names. Window shopped at the Boxpark which is filled with brands that is a little on the pricer side.

18:00 | Headed back to Soho area for Gelato at Gelupo
In anticipation of the live show later, we went to Soho area. Oddly, London was getting warmer than expected so we had to seek comfort by eating gelato to cool us down!

19:00 | Attended the Brent Cobb (special guest Colter Wall) live at Borderline
Pretty excited to attend a live show overseas and especially when it is Anders favourite genre – country music! Colter Wall, who was the special guest, was the reason why we purchased the tickets. But in the end, we completely enjoyed both of their live performance. Anders even got a chance to chat with Colter Wall, how amazing is that?!!

22:00 | Dinner at Koya Bar Soho again
After the show, we got a little hungry. So we went back to Koya Bar just before their closing time for a good bowl of udon and rice respectively. This time round, I tried their duck cold udon with hot broth while Anders had their tempura don. We would recommend sticking to their udon options.
